Buckeye Swim School

Have done lessons at 5 schools over the years and this is second to none. Ms. Laurie and team are amazing and patient, but push the kids out of their comfort zone. I can’t speak highly enough of this program. Smaller class sizes than most with great oversight.

My kids have learned so much here and enjoy coming! The owner is actively involved and the level of instruction is higher than at other places we have tried.

I can't say enough good about Laurie and the Buckeye Swim School team. They are professional, thoughtful, forward thinking, and thorough. I have complete trust in them as swim instructors for my children. 10/10 swim school experience.

Edit: I have to say I have been impressed. Even though the logistics may still be lagging, my kid is progressing through her level and in skills really fast. Variety of techniques are used, and I love it that the school gives kids life jackets to practice with as well as allows them to jump off diving boards. Bumping it to 5 stars. Original review: Attended several classes and put in our 30-day notice at Aqua-Tots to hopefully get more time in the water at this pool. Listing a few things that I didn't see yet. The first two are going to change as per their most recent email. I may change my rating as we attend more classes. - Ability to talk to instructors after lessons (I get there are badges but I need to know what to practice at our outdoor pool while it is still open for a season) - Schedule where classes run back to back, therefore, no way to talk to instructors. Classes are starting later than scheduled even though kids have been sitting in the pool area for 5 minutes already. - Whenever we come there is no one at the desk as the receptionist responsible for getting kids and parents in and out of the pool and she is the only one. - Probably due to what I mentioned above no one picked up the phone when I called to reschedule a class last minute (I would have done it via an app if it wasn't a last minute emergency). - Changing rooms could use one extra chair in case there is more than one child per one parent. - Swim instruction is on par with Aqua-Tots but my daughter learned the drill of waiting for her turn at Aqua-Tots so even though she knows what to do she won't do it unless a coach prompts her. I saw how she just sat while other kids were practicing bobs and putting their face in the water until the coach finally asked her to do bobs.

This is a great place for lessons. My kids have refused to do them for quite some time. They went here and after a few times they made significant progress and enjoy going to them. The instructors and curriculum are great! I like how they advance the skills and we’ve had several conflicts due to sports and they’ve been very easy to work with! Do not hesitate if you need lessons your kids will love!

Laurie is my kids instructor and does a great job with all 3 of them. Had my 5yo swimming independently in 6mos. She has also gained so much confidence in her swimming capabilities. The older two fixed minor things they have been doing wrong for years with other instructors that have made huge progress in their endurance. Laurie's attention to detail is something you will not find easily. She is by far the best instructor my kids have swam with. Update with the new location: Buckeye Swim School just opened their own pool. It is new and fabulous and a comfortable temperature every time my kids swim. My older 2 kids still have Laurie as an instructor. My 6yo daughter has a new instructor. The pool has rules to keep in mind: - Swim caps and goggles are required for all swimmers - Parents should stay in the waiting area to watch lessons through the window Additional things to Note - Bathrooms and changing rooms are located in the pool area.
