Intermediate & Advanced Swim Lessons
Overview
Students advance to Intermediate and Advanced Lessons (Stroke School) after achieving the Green stage benchmark in Swim School, regardless of age.
The Intermediate and Advanced curriculum will identify lead-up skills within each stroke level that focus on balance and rotation, air exchange, timing, pulling, and kicking. Each stage contains a swim skill benchmark that incorporates all proper stroke mechanics and an appropriate level of endurance.
All students in Intermediate and Advanced Lessons, regardless of ability level, can benefit from consistent use of drills to teach or reinforce proper stroke mechanics. The curriculum identifies various drills that can be used to accomplish the lead-up skills and benchmarks.
There are also safety skill benchmarks incorporated into the curriculum that will continue to develop and strengthen good water safety habits.
Our Intermediate Advanced class is a combination of skills taught in Yellow, Blue and Green. The class runs 40 minutes and will have up to 8 swimmers in a class. This class will be scheduled into its own 25 yard lane and does not share its lane space.
