Adapted Lessons

AngelFish

The AngelFish program is designed to provide comprehensive swim instruction for students with disabilities or special needs. Classes for students are conducted using the same Starfish Swimming teaching models and core competencies, supplemented with teaching adaptations and adaptive equipment, if needed. The goal is to help students become as independent and successful in the water as possible.

Individual Aquatic Plan (IAP)

This prescriptive course format is appropriate for any private or small group audience who wants personalized, custom instruction. The appropriate components from the Starfish Swimming curriculum are selected after an assessment of the student’s ability and determining the desired goals and outcomes.

First, we will conduct a competency assessment of the student to determine the appropriate curriculum stage.

Next, we will create an Individualized Aquatic Plan (IAP) using activities that are age and stage appropriate, and are aligned with the goals the student wants to achieve. Ideally, the benchmark for the stage becomes the performance goal.
